As skaters master these foundational skills, they will learn more advanced elements such as turns, spins, and jumps. She is a pre-gold level figure skater and pre-silver level in ice dance. Marissa has fifteen years of skating experience and originally learned to skate at the East Haven rink. She participated in synchronized skating with Team Esprit (CT Ice Fusion) and traveled throughout the eastern US during their competition seasons. She also has competed as an individual skater, and has performed in local club shows individually and with her synchro team.Hockey Training with Matt LieberSkating better means a more confident player – having more fun and making better plays. Matt Lieber’s coaching focuses on fundamental posture cues and movement patterns that enable winning footwork and playmaking options. Off ice work includes coach’s clip analysis and player-directed video review and movement exercises. Two certified instructors lead groups of new and returning skaters ready for Basic 2-4 and higher. Lessons feature 30 minutes of instruction and 30 minutes of practice time. Exercises and games aim to develop each skater's balance, control, and comfort on the ice.  In 6-week sessions, each skater is encouraged and guided to move to higher levels of proficiency. Skating is not easy. Safety comes first. Helmets are strongly recommended. Off ice work includes coach’s clip analysis and player-directed video review and movement exercises. Guiding your player to accumulate 1% improvements, he aims to build new movement capabilities, and he looks for on ice results.Matt Lieber is a USA Hockey and Ice Sports Industry certified coach and skating instructor. In 2023-24, Matt worked with East Haven Town Recreation and Rink staff to re-launch East Haven Learn to Skate. A veteran player and coach experienced with ages 8 to 14 as well as adult players, Matt has been coaching Jason Yee’s Downhill Skating System since 2022. While retooling his own game in 2018, Matt discovered and joined Train 2.0–  the most systematic, innovative, and empowering platform for hockey training–  and is now a licensed affiliate. Matt is excited to bring this resource to players in southern Connecticut. Matt first assesses your player’s skating then identifies with them the footwork skills to learn, hone, and master.
